Employment Information

Working at The Outdoor Academy is a chance to teach outside the academic norm. Our faculty, much like our students, are adventurous, intelligent people who are here because they are excited about OA’s unique setting and academic program.

Faculty at our school are dedicated, hardworking and committed educators.  We seek faculty who have experience in their field of teaching, as well as expertise in the outdoors in areas such as hiking, camping, paddling and rock climbing.

Job Openings / Job Descriptions

What will classes be like?
Teachers at OA can expect to work with positive, motivated youth in a small classroom setting with few distractions. There are approximately seven students per class, so our teachers are able to form close relationships and offer one-on-one instruction.

Faculty are assigned indoor classroom space, but always have the option of using other facilities and spaces on our campus.  Teaching by the lake or stream, as well as in the field or forest, is considered appropriate, even inspiring.

What about vacation?
Given how much we expect and receive from our faculty when we are in session (from mid-August to mid-May), we are pleased to offer our faculty significant time off during the summer, as well as during major vacation periods throughout the academic year.

How do I apply for a position at The Outdoor Academy?
We continually accept resumes and cover letters from prospective faculty members.  We have hired locally, regionally, nationally and internationally over the years and are always interested in hearing from those with a desire to work at our school.
