Summer is here and the Eagle’s Nest campus has been in full swing the past couple of weeks with our Wilderness, Paddling, and Rock Climbing instructors here for clinics. Each clinic spent 5 days teaching and learning from one another. Some of the hard skills we learned include (but are certainly not limited to): swift water rescue, bear hangs, water filtration, paddling strokes, knots, river crossing, packing a pack, building anchors, climbing rescue techniques, risk management, and so much more.

It is one of my favorite times of year; being at camp with staff before the kids arrive. We are able to get to know one another and set a tone that makes the magic happen all summer long. The hard skills are all important, but I especially value the impromptu moments spent playing. There’s nothing better than a crowd of adults hollering “YEE-HAW!!” to get the mood right for summer. Amidst learning the essential skills to be an instructor at Eagle’s Nest, we are reminded that a large part of the success of our program comes from having fun and connecting with one another.

We are ready and looking forward to all of our 2019 Hante Adventures. Here we go!
